Roswell drivers on Georgia 400 and Holcomb Bridge Road face nightly lane closures through Sunday, Oct. 25, as the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) pushes ahead on the GA-400 Express Lanes Project.
The closures hit two of the city's busiest corridors. Appen Media first reported the schedule on Thursday, Oct. 22.
Holcomb Bridge Road: Single-lane closures in both directions between Dogwood Road and Market Boulevard run from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly through Friday, Oct. 23. Separately, flagging operations will close lanes on Raintree Drive at Market Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Georgia 400: Crews will shut down two lanes in both directions between Abernathy Road and Riverside Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly through Sunday, Oct. 25. That stretch runs through Sandy Springs and Roswell.
A second GA-400 closure is set for Sunday, Oct. 25, alone. Double-lane closures in both directions between Hammond Drive and Shiloh Road will run from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
All closures are weather-dependent and could change, GDOT said. The agency urged drivers to use caution in work zones, allow extra travel time and follow posted signs.
The lane restrictions are part of a broader project to add express lanes in both directions along about 16 miles of Georgia 400. The corridor stretches from MARTA's North Springs Station at Exit 5C in Fulton County to about a mile north of McFarland Parkway at Exit 12 in Forsyth County. GDOT's project hub says all construction is expected to wrap up by 2031.
The express lanes project has already changed access near the Roswell Police Department. According to GDOT's project site, the primary entrance and exit to the police department and Roswell Summit buildings from westbound Holcomb Bridge Road temporarily closed on Oct. 12. Both buildings remain accessible via Old Dogwood Road. A portion of the sidewalk on westbound Holcomb Bridge Road between Dogwood Road and the police department entrance is also closed, with pedestrians directed to a signed detour. Those closures are expected to last about two years.
The MARTA bus stop on Holcomb Bridge Road at Old Dogwood Road remains open.
