Mezzo-soprano Gabrielle Beteag, a Grand Finals Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, performs at Mimosa Hall in Roswell on Sunday, Nov. 15 for a 70-seat afternoon concert.

The Roswell Music Club is hosting Beteag as part of its monthly series that brings professional musicians to the historic Greek Revival mansion at 127 Bullock Ave. Tickets cost $35 and include hors d'oeuvres and wine, according to the club's website. Doors open at 3 p.m., with the performance starting at 3:30 p.m. and running through 5 p.m.

Beteag (pronounced BEE-tag) was one of five winners who won the Metropolitan Opera competition in March 2020, beating out more than 1,000 singers who auditioned across 40 districts in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico. The win carried a $20,000 cash prize, according to a Met Opera press release about the competition. The Met listed Beteag from Lilburn, Georgia, in its program.

Since then, she has built a career at major opera houses. She created the role of Iras in John Adams' Antony and Cleopatra during San Francisco Opera's Centennial Season in 2022-2023 and is the Grand Prize Winner of the 2026 Butler Opera International Competition, according to her management page. Opera News praised her "exceptionally fine vocal form," according to her website.

Her 2026 season also includes returns to the Santa Rosa Symphony and San Francisco Opera.

Beteag earned her master's degree from Georgia State University in 2018. A GSU profile noted she was praised for her "choice voice" and "dramatically vivid" performance at the Met finals.

Attendees can ask questions between songs and mingle with Beteag and host David T. Francis after the show. Only 70 tickets are available.

Mimosa Hall sits on a nine-acre estate in Roswell's Historic District and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The city purchased the property in 2017 for $2.95 million and opened it as a public events venue in 2021.
