Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff is seeking a second term representing Georgia in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election against Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Collins.

Ossoff won his seat in the January 2021 runoff. His published priorities include expanding healthcare access, attracting manufacturing jobs, protecting reproductive rights and banning stock trading by members of Congress.

Background and experience

Ossoff lives in Atlanta with his wife, Dr. Alisha Kramer, and their two daughters, according to his Senate biography. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in 2009 and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics in 2013.

Before entering the Senate, he worked as a national security aide to U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson and led Insight TWI, a company producing investigative journalism about corruption, organized crime, human trafficking and war crimes. He became CEO in 2013 and stepped down after joining the Senate in 2021.

Healthcare

Ossoff supports expanding Medicaid in Georgia and improving care for pregnant women, babies and children. His campaign website also identifies expanding healthcare facilities and addressing prescription-drug costs as priorities.

He supported legislation limiting out-of-pocket insulin costs for Medicare beneficiaries. The benefit caps a month’s supply of each covered insulin product at no more than $35, according to Medicare.

Campaign policy statements collected by BallotReady also describe his support for a public health insurance option. Those published positions are separate from the newsroom’s unanswered candidate questionnaire.

Economy and jobs

Ossoff’s campaign emphasizes attracting manufacturing investment, expanding job training, helping Georgia farmers reach export markets and reducing reliance on Chinese supply chains.

His campaign also lists infrastructure improvements and broader high-speed internet access among his priorities. These proposals concern federal legislation and funding; a senator would need support from other lawmakers to enact new programs or spending.

Public safety and government reform

Ossoff’s Senate office highlights bipartisan legislation addressing online child exploitation, fentanyl trafficking, veterans’ mental healthcare and federal prison oversight.

His published policy positions include universal criminal background checks for gun purchases and red flag laws. He also supports additional federal resources to investigate organized crime, human trafficking, financial crimes and corruption.

Ossoff supports banning members of Congress from trading stocks. His office points to investigations into federal prisons, military housing and foster care as examples of his oversight work.

Reproductive rights and civil rights

Ossoff supports abortion rights and says decisions about ending a pregnancy should remain with women rather than government.

His published positions also support marriage equality, adoption rights for gay couples and the Equality Act, which would expand federal protections against discrimination.
