Hundreds of plastic ducks will hit Big Creek on Saturday as Roswell kicks off more than two weeks of Halloween-season events across the city.

The Great Annual Duck Race, the Adaptive Truck or Treat and the Roswell Police Department's Trunk or Treat are all on the calendar. The three events run between Saturday and Oct. 30, giving families plenty of reasons to get out.

Duck Race: Saturday, Oct. 17

Keep Roswell Beautiful (KRB) sends hundreds of numbered plastic ducks down Big Creek at noon sharp, just downstream of the pedestrian bridge at Oxbo Linear Park. The race itself takes about 15 minutes, according to the event listing on Roswell365.

Ducks cost $5 each and can be reserved online or rented at the event. Cash prizes go to the top three finishers. You don't need to be present to win.

Admission, food and games are free and open to the public. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with sponsor tables, refreshments and family activities alongside the race. All proceeds support KRB's environmental stewardship programs in Roswell.

Big Creek feeds into the Chattahoochee River and serves as Roswell's drinking water source, a fact KRB highlights in promoting the fundraiser.

Adaptive Truck or Treat: Saturday, Oct. 24

Unique Individual Ranch, a Roswell nonprofit founded in 2015 by Nehemiah Lamb, hosts a free, sensory-friendly Truck or Treat at Waller Park, 250 Oak St., from 10 a.m. to noon.

The event is built for children and teens with special needs and disabilities, along with their families. Kids trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk in what the nonprofit calls "a safe, welcoming, judgment-free space," according to the event page on Roswell365.

The event features a calm, sensory-friendly environment with no jump scares, plus allergy-friendly and non-food treat options, according to the listing. The layout is accessible for wheelchairs, walkers and mobility devices. Costumes are encouraged, but comfort comes first. Registration is required.

Unique Individual Ranch provides after-school care and camp programs for children and young adults with special needs, according to the organization's website.

RPD Trunk or Treat: Friday, Oct. 30

The Roswell Police Department wraps up the Halloween stretch with its annual Trunk or Treat at Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill St., from 4 to 7 p.m.

The department listed candy, games, police cars, fire trucks, photo ops, a petting zoo and music in a Facebook post announcing the event. Costumes are encouraged.

Appen Media compiled a broader list of Halloween events across north Fulton and Dunwoody.
