Paving crews are now working near three Roswell parks after the city expanded its 2026 road resurfacing program beyond Riverside Road.
The City of Roswell announced Thursday, July 30 that resurfacing has moved to streets around East Roswell Park, Crabapple Center and Roswell Area Park. Work on Riverside Road also continues.
The city directed residents to check the live schedule at roswellconnections.com/resurfacing to see whether their route is affected. Schedules can shift due to weather, contractor availability and field conditions.
$5.2 million contract, 14 miles of road
Roswell City Council unanimously approved the 2026 Citywide Resurfacing Contract on March 23, awarding Baldwin Paving Company $5,241,853, with total spending authorized up to $6,044,408. The work is funded in part through the $179.6 million general obligation bond package voters approved in November 2022.
The city maintains roughly 350 miles of roads. Current funding covers about 14 miles of resurfacing per year at approximately $4 million annually, according to the city's resurfacing program page.
A consultant assessed every city street using specialized equipment and AI-assisted pavement analysis, rating each on a Pavement Condition Index from 0 (failed) to 100 (excellent). The city is shifting toward a neighborhood-based approach, targeting clusters of streets in poor condition rather than isolated segments, to reduce repeated disruptions.
What residents should expect
Contractors place signs at neighborhood entrances about three days before work begins. The specific streets being resurfaced near the three park areas are not listed publicly, but the online schedule is updated regularly. It was last refreshed July 29.
East Roswell Park itself received $2.5 million in separate bond-funded improvements completed in September 2025. The current road work addresses streets in the surrounding area, not the park grounds.
No completion date for the expanded resurfacing work has been announced. Residents can track updates and check whether their street is on the list at the city's resurfacing schedule page.
