Cole Weaver, the 220-pound wide receiver out of Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, is projected to open the 2026 season as a starting wideout for the Syracuse Orange, according to the Syracuse fan site Nunes Magician. The Roswell native transferred from Miami (Ohio) after a breakout 2025 campaign.

Weaver, a redshirt junior wearing No. 11 for the Orange, caught 45 passes for 642 yards and a touchdown across 14 games last fall, finishing as Miami's second-leading receiver, Sports Illustrated reported. Syracuse.com noted he dropped just one pass all season.

Syracuse lost four wide receivers through the transfer portal before the 2026 season, including Johntay Cook, Darrell Gill Jr., Emanuel Ross, and Jaylan Hornsby, according to Sports Illustrated. Weaver chose the Orange after visiting the Syracuse area, per 247Sports. His size and low drop rate address a position group gutted by departures.

The path from Roswell to a Power Four roster wasn't a straight line. Miami (Ohio) was Weaver's only scholarship offer out of high school, where Rivals rated him just two stars. He redshirted in 2023, appeared in six games with one start in 2024, then broke through as a full-time starter last fall. As a transfer portal prospect, 247Sports bumped him to three stars, ranking him 99th among wide receivers and 506th overall.

Nunes Magician projects Weaver as a go-to third-down target for the Orange, citing his size and reliable hands. Head coach Fran Brown enters his third season at Syracuse after a 3-9 record in 2025.

Roswell fans may remember Weaver sharing the Blessed Trinity roster with Justice Haynes, who now plays running back at Georgia Tech. Two Blessed Trinity products suiting up for Power Four programs in the same fall gives the Titans' football pipeline another marker.

Weaver and the Orange open the 2026 season on Saturday, September 5, against New Hampshire at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. Kickoff is set for noon.
