Blessed Trinity will face a familiar opponent Saturday, Oct. 31, when the Titans meet Marist for the GHSA Class 5A volleyball championship.
First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at LakePoint in Emerson. A victory would give Blessed Trinity its eighth state title and first since 2019, according to the school’s announcement.
The teams have split four meetings this season. Blessed Trinity won 2-0 on Aug. 18 and 2-1 on Aug. 22, while Marist took the next two without dropping a set: 2-0 on Sept. 17 and 3-0 in the Oct. 8 region tournament championship, according to MaxPreps.
Blessed Trinity enters the final at 44-8 after surviving a five-set semifinal against Cartersville on Oct. 28.
The Titans won the opening set before Cartersville claimed two extended sets to take a 2-1 lead. Blessed Trinity recovered to win 25-18, 26-28, 29-31, 25-16, 15-12, avenging last year’s quarterfinal loss to the Lady Canes, WBHF reported.
The semifinal victory was Blessed Trinity’s fourth consecutive playoff win. The Titans swept Dutchtown, Statesboro and Ola in the first three rounds.
Head coach Ashley Woodward leads a roster that includes senior Destinee Nwankwo-Chukelu and junior libero Abby Woodward, according to the school’s volleyball page.
Marist won the Class 4A championship in 2025 before moving to 5A this season, according to GHSA’s championship records.
Blessed Trinity’s previous state titles came in 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019.
Tickets are available through GoFan. Fans unable to attend can watch on the NFHS Network, according to the school.
