Roswell can force a three-way tie atop Region 7-6A when it visits rival Milton on Friday, Nov. 6.

The Hornets (7-2, 4-1) face the Eagles (8-1, 5-0) at 7:30 p.m. at Milton’s Eagle’s Nest. A Milton victory clinches the region championship outright. A Roswell win puts both teams alongside Gainesville in a first-place tie, according to GPB’s game preview. A loss leaves the Hornets third.

GPB-TV will broadcast the game live, with streaming available at GPB.org.

Roswell enters after an idle week, carrying a three-game winning streak. The Hornets beat Alpharetta, Johns Creek and Riverwood by a combined 144-16 following their Oct. 2 loss to Gainesville, according to MaxPreps.

Head coach Jonathan Thompson’s team has lost only to Gainesville and Newton. The Hornets fell 34-5 to Gainesville and 42-15 to Newton.

Milton has won seven straight under coach Ben Reaves Jr., most recently beating Riverwood 55-0 on Oct. 30. Its only loss came against Blessed Trinity.

The Eagles survived their biggest region test Oct. 23, rallying from a 30-14 second-quarter deficit to beat Gainesville 49-46. Ryan Jung’s 47-yard field goal with 58 seconds remaining broke the tie, according to High School On SI.

Milton’s offense features senior receiver Jordan Carrasquillo, who averages 85.8 receiving yards per game, and senior running back Sheldon Atchison, who averages 79 rushing yards. Senior linebacker Blaize Battaglia leads the Eagles with 10.3 tackles per game, while Roman Tumminia has six sacks and sophomore Malik Rolle has three interceptions, according to MaxPreps statistics updated Nov. 1.

Friday will be the schools’ 72nd meeting. Roswell leads the series 39-31-1 and won last season’s matchup 41-39, ending Milton’s six-game winning streak against the Hornets, GPB reported.

Both teams appeared in High School Football America’s Oct. 26 Georgia Top 25, with Milton ranked 14th and Roswell 16th.
