Roswell-area families with students heading into Fulton County Schools have less than three weeks to get immunization records, health screenings, and school supplies squared away before classes begin Monday, August 3.

The closest opportunity is right in the neighborhood. Centennial High School will host Fulton County Schools' annual "First Day Fulton" resource fair on Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The district says the event marks its 10th year of helping families prepare for the school year. Offerings include free school supplies, immunizations, health screenings, Second Harvest food distribution, and help with the district's FOCUS School Software.

Banneker High School in south Fulton will serve as the second location the same day.

What families need on file

Georgia law requires every student through 12th grade to have a current Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231) on file. Students enrolling in a Georgia public school for the first time must also submit DPH Form 3300, the state's Certificate of Vision, Hearing, Dental, and Nutrition Screening.

Rising seventh-graders face an additional requirement: one Tdap dose and one meningococcal vaccine dose. Students entering 11th grade at age 16 or older need a meningococcal booster. Georgia's school immunization requirements remain unchanged for 2026-2027, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported, even after the federal Department of Health and Human Services revised its recommended childhood schedule earlier in the year.

Lynne Meadows, director of Fulton County Schools' district health services, told the AJC that the screenings help catch problems early. "We want all students to be in the best possible health so that any health-related barriers to learning can be identified and addressed as early as possible," Meadows said.

A second option in late August

The Fulton County Board of Health is also hosting a Back to School Health & Resource Fair on Saturday, August 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Adamsville Regional Health Center, 3700 MLK Jr. Drive in Atlanta. The fair will offer immunizations, screenings, and educational resources, according to the FCBOH website. That date falls after the first day of school, making it a catch-up option rather than a way to arrive on day one with paperwork complete.

Families can call the health department at 770-520-7500 for registration and cost details.

What's next

For Roswell High School and Centennial High School families, the July 25 fair at Centennial is the most convenient single stop to handle supplies, shots, and screenings before teacher workdays begin Monday, July 27. Families should confirm the August 3 start date at fultonschools.org. More information on First Day Fulton is available at fultonschools.org/firstdayfulton.
