Chattahoochee Nature Center drew nearly 1,500 guests to its 50th anniversary celebration, unveiling a new logo and the tagline "Discovery Flows Here."
The Roswell nonprofit, known as CNC, developed the refreshed brand identity with Golden Lasso Agency. The three-day event also introduced an updated website and a new mission statement: "Inspiring lifelong connections with nature through the Chattahoochee River." The organization will keep its Chattahoochee Nature Center name.
Natasha Rice, president and CEO, said the rebrand was months in the making. She said in a CNC-sponsored article on SaportaReport that "fifty years ago, a small group of volunteers believed Roswell needed a place where people could fall in love with nature … As heartwarming it has been to celebrate the past, we recognized the importance of implementing new strategies to support our future."
The celebration included archery, canoeing, a 1970s-themed Sunset Sips evening with live music and a free community day. CNC said nearly 1,500 guests attended across the three events.
Founded in 1976 by citizen activists inspired by John Ripley Forbes and Frank McCamey, CNC was Georgia's first nonprofit nature center, according to the organization's history page. It has grown from a 6.7-acre site into a 127-acre campus of forests, wetlands, native gardens and trails along the Chattahoochee River at 9135 Willeo Road. The center says it welcomes more than 150,000 visitors a year.
The milestone comes during a period of expansion. CNC completed the Parker House, a volunteer and operations center, in 2025 as the first phase of its Growing Tomorrow's Nature Enthusiasts capital campaign. The center also added nine new board members in May, WSB-TV reported, bringing expertise in sustainability, finance and communications.
The center's logo has been updated seven times since 1982. The 2026 version is the latest in a visual identity that has evolved alongside the campus.
Fulton County Commissioner Bob Ellis marked the anniversary in a June 23 post on X, thanking the center "for 50 years of connecting North Fulton with nature and the great outdoors."
