Men in the Roswell area can get a free prostate cancer screening on Tuesday, September 29, when the Emory Winship Cancer Institute's Mobile Prostate Cancer Screening Bus parks at the Country Club of Roswell. No golf required.

The bus will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2500 Club Springs Drive, offering PSA blood tests at no cost. Results come back on-site within an hour or through Emory Healthcare's MyChart portal. The screening is open to the public, not just participants in the sold-out golf tournament happening alongside it.

The screening bus is part of the 28th annual Drive for the Cure tournament, a fundraiser for prostate cancer research at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute. A group of men at the Country Club of Roswell founded the nonprofit in 1999, and it has raised approximately $1.5 million over its 27-year history, according to an Appen Media report.

Last year marked the first time the mobile screening bus appeared at the tournament. About 20% of men screened were recommended for further testing after their results flagged concerns, volunteer Dan Gordon told the outlet.

"Early detection for men is key to making sure that there's no long-term issues," Gordon told Appen Media. "That bus screening has been fantastic."

Ed Hoppe, a volunteer who joined the tournament more than 20 years ago, told Appen Media that prostate cancer's prevalence motivated his involvement. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosis among men in the United States, with roughly 1 in 8 men diagnosed during their lifetime, according to the National Cancer Institute.

The Winship mobile screening program launched in 2025 with support from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and Mount Sinai Health System. By July 7, the program had provided 2,000 free screenings across Georgia communities, according to Winship Cancer Institute.

The tournament day schedule includes check-in, silent auction, and continental breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m., a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m., and lunch and awards at 2:30 p.m. Hole-in-one prizes include a vehicle from MotorCars of Atlanta and a golf cart from E-Z-GO.
