Three of five North Fulton County high school alumni saw their teams win on Sunday, July 26, with Centennial High's Jonathan Cannon, Milton High's Graham Pauley, Northview High's Jason Delay, Northview's Mark McLaughlin and Northview's Michael Trautwein all in uniform across the minor leagues.
Cannon and the Knights
The biggest individual performance of the week belonged to Cannon two days earlier. On Friday, July 24, the 6-foot-6 right-hander from Roswell worked six innings against the Norfolk Tides at Truist Field, allowing just one hit and one earned run while striking out nine batters. Charlotte lost that game 2-1, according to North Fulton Today.
On Sunday, the Knights got their revenge with a 7-4 win over the same Norfolk club. Charlotte (55-47) built a 6-1 lead before the Tides rallied for three runs in the seventh off reliever Wikelman González. Sunday's game was a bullpen affair for Charlotte, and individual pitching stats for Cannon were not available from the contest, per the SouthSideSox minor league report.
Delay scores in Worcester sweep
Northview High's Jason Delay delivered the most visible individual contribution of the five alumni on Sunday. The Worcester Red Sox catcher led off the third inning with a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on Braiden Ward's RBI double to put Worcester on the board first in a 4-3 win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at Polar Park, according to the MiLB game recap.
The loss extended Jacksonville's club-record losing streak to 12 games. Milton High's Graham Pauley, the Jumbo Shrimp infielder from Alpharetta, was in the lineup for the loss. Jacksonville's record dropped to 50-50 overall and 8-18 in the second half. Individual stats for Pauley were not available.
Trautwein wins; McLaughlin's Barons fall
Michael Trautwein, a catcher and Northview High product from Johns Creek, suited up as the Chattanooga Lookouts beat the Biloxi Shuckers 8-4. Biloxi committed five errors, leading to three unearned runs, according to Brewer Fanatic's farm report. Individual stats for Trautwein were not available.
Mark McLaughlin and the Birmingham Barons had a rougher afternoon. After a two-hour rain delay, the Montgomery Biscuits beat Birmingham 6-1 in the series finale. The Barons (36-60) managed just three hits, per the SouthSideSox report. McLaughlin's individual pitching line was not available.
