Thousands of Roswell families sent students back to class Monday, August 3, as Roswell High School and Centennial High School opened for the 2026-27 school year. Both schools start at 8:20 a.m. and dismiss at 3:30 p.m.

Teachers and staff spent the week of July 27–31 in professional development and open house events ahead of the first day.

Bus routes may have changed

Fulton County Schools updated routes over the summer, meaning a student's stop or pickup time may be different from last year. Families should check the "Here Comes the Bus" app or the Infinite Campus Transportation portal to confirm their student's current route, according to the district's back-to-school portal.

Attendance push: "95 to Thrive"

The district is leading its Know Before You Go checklist with an attendance campaign called "95 to Thrive," which asks students to be present at least 95 percent of school days. At Roswell High, that translates to no more than eight absences for the year.

Parents can also request up to five "Participated Remote" days per semester — 10 total — for students who need to complete work from home. Those days do not count against the attendance record, according to Roswell High's website.

Meal prices for 2026-27

High school breakfast costs $1.85 and lunch runs $3.35 for the new year. Elementary families pay $1.70 for breakfast and $3.10 for lunch. Students who qualify for reduced-price meals continue to receive both breakfast and lunch at no cost. Families can load meal accounts through MySchoolBucks.

Roswell High: residency verification for 9th and 10th graders

Incoming ninth- and tenth-graders at Roswell High, along with any student who changed addresses, must submit two proofs of residency: one current water or electric utility bill plus one residence document such as a mortgage bill, lease, HOA bill, or property tax bill. Forms go to [email protected]. Registrar Mrs. Gintert can answer questions at (470) 254-4642.

Cell phone restrictions in effect

High school students are prohibited from using personal electronic devices during instructional time this year. Students can no longer connect personal devices to school Wi-Fi, per district policy.
