Roswell's Mimms Museum of Technology and Art is stacking four hands-on events into the first two weeks of November, according to Appen Media.

The lineup starts Thursday, Nov. 5, with a speed puzzling competition and wraps Wednesday, Nov. 11, with a free evening blending Minecraft, live music and a Georgia Humanities grant.

Here is what's on the calendar at the museum, located at 5000 Commerce Parkway.

Speed Puzzling — Thursday, Nov. 5

Teams of up to four will race to finish the same 500-piece jigsaw puzzle between 6 and 8:30 p.m. The fastest team wins free museum admission. Registration costs $18 per person and includes a puzzle for the team to keep and light bites. Beverages will be available for purchase at the museum's card bar.

Solo puzzlers can sign up and get matched with an open team. Groups of five are welcome but take a 10-minute penalty on their finishing time.

Electronics Recycle Drive — Saturday, Nov. 7

Old printers, laptops, servers, modems, phones, routers and other electronics can be dropped off at the museum entrance between 1 and 3 p.m. New Life Technology, described by Appen Media as a computer donation nonprofit, will collect the items on site. According to the museum's event page, all donated items are 100% reused.

Flat-screen TVs carry a $20 disposal fee each.

Punch Card Machine Demo — Saturday, Nov. 7

Also on Nov. 7, the museum traces the history of the punch card from the Jacquard loom to Herman Hollerith's tabulating machines, which processed data for the 1890 census. The demo runs 2 to 4 p.m. Visitors can punch their own souvenir card on an original IBM 029 to take home. The demo is free with museum membership or admission.

Talking Tech: Building Through Play — Wednesday, Nov. 11

Minecraft creator and YouTuber Joe Nicholls, known online as JazziiRed, will show how he turned the block-based video game into a working digital music box for "Soundcraft: Minecraft in C." The evening also features a live performance by the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra Honors Quartet, a music box demonstration and a Q&A.

Doors open at 6 p.m. The program runs 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Attendees can bring a laptop with Minecraft version 26.2 installed to explore the music box themselves.

The event is free, funded by a Georgia Humanities grant. Seating is limited, and tickets will not be available at the door.
