A tree crashed onto a home on East Addison Drive in Roswell on Saturday, Sept. 5. Severe thunderstorms had swept through Fulton County with 60 mph wind gusts and one-inch hail.

Roswell Fire officials told FOX 5 Atlanta that no one was injured at the residence. The tree also damaged a surrounding yard fence.

The department said it fielded numerous calls across the city for trees blocking roadways and fallen into yards on the evening of Sept. 5.

Fulton County outages topped 34,000

More than 50,000 customers lost electricity across core metro Atlanta counties at the storm's peak, according to a Saturday FOX 5 Atlanta report. Fulton County had the most outages, with more than 34,000 customers reported without power.

The Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency (AFCEMA) had issued severe thunderstorm warnings for northern, central and southern Fulton County on Sept. 5. The warnings cited 60 mph winds and one-inch hail, running until 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. for different parts of the county.

By midnight, more than 16,000 Georgia Power customers and 9,000 Georgia EMC customers remained without electricity across the metro area, according to Rough Draft Atlanta.

Restoration progress

Crews worked through the night. By Sunday morning, Sept. 6, the outage count had dropped to roughly 5,000. As of 3:05 p.m. Sunday, 3,288 Georgia Power outages remained across the metro area.

Utility companies estimated full restoration for remaining customers between noon and 5 p.m. on Sept. 6.

A Roswell-specific outage count was not available from Georgia Power or Georgia EMC.
