Roswell Mini Mart and Kaya Sushi & Ramen, both recently under new ownership, will ask the city's Alcoholic Beverage License Board to approve beer and wine licenses at a public hearing Thursday, Aug. 6.

The hearing begins at 10 a.m. in City Hall Council Chambers at 38 Hill Street, Suite 215. The hearing is open to the public, and residents can comment before the board votes on both applications.

Roswell Mini Mart: 146 Norcross St.

Aakanksha Patangay, operating as Roswell Corner Mart Inc., is the new owner of the convenience store in Roswell's historic district near Canton Street. Patangay is seeking a package beer and wine license with Sunday sales, which would allow the store to sell packaged beer and wine for off-premises consumption seven days a week.

The stretch of Norcross Street has seen recent city investment. In May 2026, the city's Committees of Council considered accepting a right-of-way for a streetscape and sidewalk improvement along 100 Norcross Street, according to city council records.

Kaya Sushi & Ramen: 10707 Alpharetta Hwy.

Bui Eng Doyle, operating as Kaya Restaurant Inc., is the new owner of the Japanese restaurant on the Alpharetta Highway corridor. Doyle is seeking a limited consumption on-premises beer and wine license without Sunday sales, which would allow diners to order beer and wine with their meals Monday through Saturday.

The restaurant is already closed Sundays, according to its website, making the no-Sunday-sales license a natural fit with its existing hours.

What to expect

Both applications are classified as "existing business, new owner" cases, meaning the locations already operate but need fresh licenses under their new ownership, according to the city's hearing agenda.

The three-member board includes City Administrator Randy Knighton, Director of Community Development Michelle Alexander, and Deputy Director of Finance Georgette McCray. Every application brought before the board in 2026 has been approved unanimously, according to meeting minutes from earlier this year.

The board's decision on both applications is expected at the Aug. 6 hearing. Residents who want to weigh in can attend at City Hall or contact the city's Community Development department beforehand.
