A Roswell man who claimed to be a police officer was arrested after his ex-girlfriend reported a fraudulent charge on her debit card, according to Atlanta News First, citing Roswell police.

Christopher Guillaume now faces multiple charges including felony impersonating a police officer, fraud and theft, according to Fulton County Jail records reported by WSB-TV. Both outlets published their reports Monday, Aug. 10.

The case began when Guillaume's ex-girlfriend contacted Roswell police to report he had placed a fraudulent charge on her debit card. During an interview with a Roswell officer, Guillaume told the officer he had worked for the Jonesboro Police Department and was in the process of transferring to a department in Orlando, Florida.

Neither claim was true.

The Jonesboro Police Department confirmed to the Roswell officer that Guillaume had never worked for the department. A Jonesboro officer said Guillaume had participated in a ride-along with the department, after which an officer's badge went missing. Roswell police have not said whether the badge recovered from Guillaume's social media photos matches the one reported missing from Jonesboro.

Guillaume's Facebook account contained photos showing him wearing a body armor vest and carrying a taser, a body camera, an American flag and a police badge. WSB-TV reporter Michael Seiden reported that Guillaume also carried a gun, posted videos appearing to show him alongside real officers and claimed to be a preacher.

Guillaume was initially arrested on a charge of financial transaction card fraud. Roswell police said additional charges are pending.

Under Georgia law, impersonating a police officer is a felony punishable by one to five years in prison, a fine of up to $1,000, or both.
