Roswell residents wondering why a road project or bond-funded improvement seems stalled can check for themselves on a city dashboard that tracks each project's status from planning through construction.

The City of Roswell published two explainer pages on Monday, Sept. 21, designed to answer that question. One, titled "Transportation Project Timelines," lays out six stages a road project passes through before construction begins: identifying a need, moving from idea to public project, design, right-of-way acquisition, preparing for construction and the build itself. The other, "Bond & Capital Improvement Project Timelines," maps eight stages for bond-funded work.

Both pages direct residents to the city's Projects and Private Developments Dashboard, where users can search projects by location and view scope, status and progress. The dashboard covers transportation work, projects funded by the 2022 voter-approved bond program and other capital improvements.

That bond program totals $179.6 million, according to North Atlanta Star reporting on city materials. The city's fiscal year 2026 budget, approved Oct. 27, 2025, includes $21.5 million in capital investment for transportation, facilities and other improvements, per the same reporting.

Why projects seem to stall

The transportation explainer singles out right-of-way acquisition as a phase that can take months or years. The city said that during this stretch, it may look like nothing is happening while some of the most important work is underway.

The bond explainer uses the Downtown Parking Deck as its case study. Voters approved $20 million for the deck in 2022. It provides nearly 400 public parking spaces in Historic Downtown Roswell, according to the city. The city noted that voter approval establishes funding authority but does not mean a project is immediately ready for construction.

Both pages include companion videos. The tools are free.

Residents can access the explainer pages and the dashboard through roswellconnections.com. The dashboard displays maps, timelines and cost details for projects citywide.
