A speeding stop on South Holcomb Bridge Road turned into a drug trafficking arrest Wednesday, Aug. 12, after Roswell Police officers found methamphetamine, Xanax and drug paraphernalia inside a silver BMW driven by a Dunwoody woman.
Officers spotted the vehicle traveling eastbound at 60 mph while failing to maintain its lane and pulled it over at the intersection with Nesbitt Ferry Road, according to a Roswell Police Department arrest report cited by Appen Media.
When an officer approached the passenger side, the driver began convulsing and fell headfirst from the car onto the pavement. The officer called EMS, turned the woman on her side and attempted to render aid.
The officer noted in the report that the driver's condition "was inconsistent with what the officer expected during an active seizure." She remained responsive to painful stimuli and allegedly avoided attempts to administer naloxone, the opioid-overdose antidote. Within minutes of EMS arriving, she regained consciousness but was in an altered mental state, the report states.
After identifying the driver, officers discovered she had several active felony arrest warrants from Gwinnett County for possession of methamphetamine, theft of services and criminal trespassing. All carried a nationwide extradition status.
The woman was transported to a hospital. Officers then conducted a probable cause search of the BMW and reported finding:
- Xanax pills
- Two vials of clear liquid containing traces of methamphetamine
- Plastic bags and three digital scales, one with crystalline residue
- A crystalline substance in the center console and around the gearshift that tested positive for methamphetamine
- Three cellphones officers believe may contain evidence of drug distribution
The driver was arrested on six charges, including trafficking of illegal drugs, possession of drug-related objects, speeding and an expired license. The remaining two charges were not specified in the available report.
The arrest comes roughly a year after Roswell Police, working with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations, seized more than $750,000 in methamphetamine and cocaine and shut down a suspected drug conversion lab on Old Holcomb Bridge Way in August 2025.
