Roswell's 911 Center firing range will get a $1.1 million overhaul and the city's Public Safety Headquarters will receive three new rooftop HVAC units after the City Council gave final approval to all four contracts Monday, Aug. 10.

The range improvement contract goes to Range Systems at a cost not to exceed $1,109,979. The firing range sits at 11261 Alpharetta Highway, the former Sharp Shooters USA property the city purchased for $5.9 million in February 2024 to serve as the site of its planned E911 Call Center while maintaining the existing range for police training.

All three HVAC contracts went to the same contractor. Chastain Plumbing Heating and Cooling won the work to replace rooftop units at Building 100 of the Public Safety Headquarters on Holcomb Bridge Road: $113,353 for RTU #1, and $129,941 each for RTU #2 and RTU #3, totaling $373,235. Building 100 houses both the Roswell Police Department and the Roswell Fire Department.

All four contracts cleared the Committees of Council unanimously on July 28, according to city council minutes. Councilmember Sarah Beeson moved the range contract, seconded by Councilmember Chris Zack. Beeson also moved all three HVAC contracts, with Councilmember Jennifer Phillippi seconding. Councilmembers Beeson, Christine Hall, Zack, Phillippi and Eren Brumley were present for the committee vote.

As we reported July 29, the committee advanced the contracts as part of a broader $8.5 million package that also included road and parks spending.

Both projects are funded through the $52 million public safety bond voters approved in November 2022. The city bought the Holcomb Bridge Road headquarters property for $8 million in December 2024, acquiring an 8.7-acre campus with 127,000 square feet of office space. Before the move, more than 160 Roswell Police employees shared limited space at the department's 39 Hill Street offices, and the Fire Department had converted closets to house staff at its former Hembree Road administrative building.

The city has not announced construction timelines for the range upgrade or HVAC installations.
